Andy Mooring ![]() 28th Oct 2010 21:06:22 | If any member has a copy of Just Flight's MD DC-10 Collection, I have bad news for you.
After removing my copy of the DC-10 from FSX COMPLETELY, myself and Joe Lewis did a short test with his PMDG MD-11 and found that I STAYED on the server. As it now turns out, there is a software conflict between these 2 add-on packages, meaning that when you enter the server with a PMDG MD-11 and tries to be substitued for a simular aircraft (Just Flight DC-10), it basically does not like it and shuts your FSX down. So if you are having a simular problem and have a copy of the DC-10, loose it before you loose your rag. Many thanks, Andy Mooring |

Joe Lewis ![]() 28th Oct 2010 21:45:00 | Finally! Good job I didn't get the CLS DC-10, I was really going to get (legit) because I have *cough* a fetish *cough* for Tri Jets.
Well atleast that's out the way, posted it over @ the AVSIM PMDG support forum to see if they can fix it and let users use the DC-10 again. Joe |
Jamie Armstrong 28th Oct 2010 22:05:59 | Yay, well I'm pleased it wasn't the MD-11 at fault :P Since that is my favourite plane XD, any way... Thanks Andy and Joe for finding that out! |
Jamie Armstrong 28th Oct 2010 22:35:17 | I love Tri-jets, there unique in there own right and there just a great plane to fly I think, pity that there are no more passenger MD-11's , sigh. Btw is there any good payware or freeware MD-10's? (DC-10 with newer avionics etc... ) I would love to buy one of them! |
Joe Lewis ![]() 29th Oct 2010 08:37:23 | There are no MD-10's :(
I believe KLM and some asian airlines use MD-11's as passengers, but the 777, 767 and 747 are all more passenger, more range and more economic compared to the MD-11, but the MD-11 is by far one of the best freighters in a balance between range and MTOW, nearly/better than the 744F I'd say, but nowhere near as good as the 748F. But yes, Tri-jets are very unique! I guess it's the fact that half of the weight is at the back and you get used to the fact that if you pitch up too much (like on flare) you're not gonna' get that tail back up! |
Jamie Armstrong 29th Oct 2010 11:59:01 | Hehe, Connor found me one! It comes with the MD-11 from sky simulations :)
And to balance out the weight of the tail, I do a few things : load passengers and cargo from the front first... but that's only if I have a all economy seating plan, and also put more fuel in the wings than in the back, and on approach I come in at around 160kts and drop that to about 152kts (depending on load etc... :P) and it helps a lot to have more lift since the MD-11's wings are not so great for the amount of weight it carries! As long as you know how to fly the plane and treat how it flies with respect, it wont punch ya in the face! :P |
Jamie Armstrong 29th Oct 2010 12:03:01 | Oh ya btw, you notice how the no. 2 engine is slightly pointing down? I think (my opinion anyway) that actually helps with the weight of the engine a little, and on flare if I think im basically going to slam it down so hard ill be part of the runway, I increase the power and it pushes the tail a little, helps when you want to land safely, but may not be on the threshold :P |
