Hi Guys,

After being asked, I just wanted to confirm that the VFR Sessions at Shoreham are still on, 1930 for 2000 Departure (Local Times) every Thursday.

If ever unsure just check the Forum or Booked ATC List or Info Page (NB. This is static)

Bookings: http://fsopen.co.uk/info/atcbookings/

Session Info: http://fsopen.co.uk/info/

On a seperate note, I do urge all ATC to use the bookings page as much as possible! If we can get pilots in the habit then we can have more pilots to control- Simple!

Clear skies!

Christian :)

THE LAST POST NOW HAS OVER 500 VIEWS AND 40 REPLIES; SO FOR EASE I'D LIKE TO BEGIN TO USE THIS ONE FOR ANY NEW DISCUSSIONS.

THE PREVIOUS POST IS STILL VERY USEFUL!- For new pilots to these sessions, you can find the Shoreham Scenery download and all the Chart links in the thread.

Thanks to those who flew last night- the session was primarily hosted as a practise and refresher of departure and arrival patterns and comms.

Next Thursday I'm welcoming any world wide location for our flight, be this using UK Airports with predetermined VFR entry lanes via VRPs and complex airspace or some spacing and circuit practise between a couple of fields in the alps; It's completely up to yourselves. Just pop your thoughts below.
To give some increased difference between a Thursday and Sunday Night it is my intention to always use the skills we have learnt so far and use ATC at our fields. Sound good?

This means our next flight needs to have:
A NDB
A VOR (Radial)
and a VRP.

So far with a whole 2 voters is Scottish VFR Night ;)

Hi Christian,

"it is my intention to always use the skills we have learnt so far and use ATC at our fields. Sound good?"

I'm not sure. The beauty of flying VFR is that it can be done pretty much anywhere. Do we NEED to be controlled by ATC all the time? Certainly in the real world, many VFR airfields only have air to ground comms or a FISO service. Just concerned that we might be over regulating the VFR nights a bit.

You raise a good point, I do not mean each week otherwise our list would become exhaustive and flight planning become tricky!- So we learn a skill and practise... so last teaching session it was Radials and VRPs, so in our next group Thursday flight we can try to use these as a way to practise. Then after (2 weeks time) we'll learn a new skill and then (3 weeks time) Practise these in the group flight. Hope this makes sense?

An FISO service might be fun to try out actually!
I do obviously agree with what you say, I just want a way of keeping the Thursday event and Sunday Night event seperated. In other words, maintaining the rules of VFR flight on a Thursday.

Hope you understand? What are peoples thoughts on this?

Also Mick, I posed a question to you on the Planning thread, I know its not to obvious though. If youd be able to do me a big favour and share your knowledge it'd appreciated :) :)

Due to an unexpected exam, is anyone able to take tower at Shoreham on Thursday for group departures?
I'd also appreciate it if a pilot would be able to lead the group to a few destinations. I can work out the route if this is a problem.
Regards,
Christian
