ATC Changes

Coming later this week will be a change in the ATC ranking and training system for FSopen. We feel that since the ATC training was shut down a few months ago the system became inconsistent and the ATC quality began to drop. We hope the new system will start to build up our pool of professional Air Traffic Controllers.

The change will involve new criteria for accomplishing each rank and changes in which ranks can control on which nights. Additionally ATC training will be much more readily available, and hopefully will continue to grow as more people progress through the ranks. (Events such as ATC training night and Pro ATC night have been put in place in preparation for the new ranking system and will continue after the new system is in place).

It is important to note that, in the interest of fairness, all controllers will be ranked down on the new system pending an evaluation. Don’t worry if your rank drops, just get in touch with an ATC Evaluator to get training/evaluation sorted and, if you meet the criteria, you will be back up again in no time. This method ensures that everyone on each rank is at the same standard.

An email and another forum post will go out later in the week when the new system is in place, along with new ATC pages to explain all of the new ranks and their criteria. If you have any questions, please turn up to this Saturday’s ATC training night where we will explain more.
