Dave Wave ![]() 18th Dec 2010 12:56:53 | For those of you not aware, the ATC training and ranking system for FSopen is changing this week. This is to create a higher quality standard of Air Traffic Control in our sessions, and also to provide more regular ATC on FSopen sessions.
Shortly, the website ATC pages will be updated with new information on the ranking structure and a new published criteria list stating the requirements for the ranks. Please check this in the next couple of days to familiarise yourself with the new system. The structure is designed to provide more scope for new controllers who wish for training, but also includes the introduction of ‘ATCO’ levels which designate a qualified controller allowed to control in any FSopen session (including Pro Nights – details of which can be found on the website). For virtually everyone with an ATC rank, you will find that over the next few days this rank will be reduced down to the training ranks. This is not because we are trying to restrict controllers, or because we are saying you don’t have the required ability – it is simply because we will be requiring everyone to meet the website criteria for the ATCO ranks. Details of your previous rank will be kept and those with previous ATC ranks can be quickly raised in the system if you meet the criteria. Additionally, priority training will be supplied to those with previous ranks who wish to brush-up their skills. The next ATC Training Night (Saturday 18th December) will start with an introduction and explanation into the new ranking system and you can pose any questions then. Additionally this night will attempt to cover the vast majority of the topics required for the first ATCO level in separate classes. Please see the website for more details. |
Dave Wave ![]() 18th Dec 2010 17:25:26 | Update:
You will notice that everyone has been put down to the Aerodrome Studentlevel for the time being on ATC. Some of these ranks will change in thenext few days - however as mentioned in the previous post you will haveto take an evaluation with an instructor to progress to an ATCO level. Priority will be given to those who had higher ATC ranks on the previoussystem, and evaluations/training will be readily available. The new ranks are explined in more detail here. http://www.fsopen.co.uk/atc/ranks/ |
