I believe as part of ATCO 3 and above training you may need to understand the basics of the METAR Code.

This page makes it a little easier to understand.
Bang it in your favorites!

ATCO3 should really be able to decode the location, time, and wind: clouds always useful but not essential.

So just the start :) E.G. 'EGPH 041910Z 26027G51KT SCT004 BKN010 OVC020... etc'

An ATCO2 should be able to decode a full METAR.

Great link Paul! Thank yooou! I'm putting it in my favourites! :)

The met office have something similar but you can also search for the currrent METARs and TAFs.

There is a free service and a Paid one. You only need the Free one though.

Just register and away you go.

For the PPL trainees this also gives you the Winds at various heights (forms F214,215), full forcast (forms F414,415) for the next 48 hours and others useful stuff.
All useful stuff for planning cross country legs.

^ PS. I'm more than aware that the Cloud Base is actually in the correct place -.-

I'm just testing you! Its why some controllers should remain virtual.
As a further twist I wrote CB rather than cloud base... ermm balls?

Why cant we delete posts to save face! gahahahahaaaa!
