Hi guys
I was hoping you could help me with a problem I'm having with the flaps on the Aerosoft MD11
The flaps closest to the fuselage extend fine, but the flaps at the far end of the wings don't (seem to)extend at all, though the instruments display them as deployed

Neil, daft question perhaps but confirm you mean the flaps just outboard of the engines (middle third of the wing trailing edge) and not the ailerons?

Have you downloaded all the service packs? I don't get this problem.

Mick, the MD-11's wing is like this, FLAPS-HIGHSPEED AILERON-FLAPS-AILERON. He means the last flaps (The ones the furthest out) I think. Do you have the HYDRAULIC System set to AUTOMATIC? Normally we'd set all the systems to Automatic, unless something abnormal happens.

Set flaps to full, check the PFD, confirm in the bottom left it has 50/50 in WHITE? if it's orange, it's a problem with the airplanes system. Make sure you're starting it properly. The MD-11 was built to lessen the workload for the crews and is best flown/used in automatic mode. Both systems and autopilot.

Hydraulic, Electric, Air Conditioning and Fuel panel can be handled auto. Check the SYSTEM button (on the top left of the appropriate section of the overhead) is on AUTO not MANUAL. The Hydraulic section on the overhead is the section under the Fire Panel, on the middle part of the overhead.

If your engines are not running then the flaps will not deploy. it will just show on the PFD the flaps apparent position in orange, meaning 'FLAP DISAGREE' (The actual flap position does not agree with the flap handles position).

If the engines are running, and hydraulics are set to AUTO, then it's a bug. Try the PMDG support.

MD-11 captain Joe! (not real life ofcourse, only a dream)

Looking around Google, try enabling 'ADVANCED ANIMATIONS' on the FSX display options.
