| Where are the passwords for some flight sessions and Team Speak? | |
Monty Howard 22nd May 2011 12:53:54 | I am missing some information or not understanding information I have which is very little. Other than the FSOPEN (FSO) forums I have been unable to locate any information re: channel specific TeamSpeak login on the FSO website.
There seems to be several TeamSpeak, and flight servers for various sessions operating under the FSO umbrella. Some of these servers require passwords for entry. Since I am new to FSO I may not have yet received all I need to get going, may have overlooked something, or simply do not understand how this is set up. I have tried to login to TeamSpeak at the IP/session ID in the TeamSpeak video installation tutorial and at an IP/ session ID I found here in the forums, 85.236.100.35:10627 and cannot connect. I am getting this TeamSpeak error message: [07:24:53] Connecting to 85.236.100.35:10627 [07:24:53] Bad Login (name and/or password wrong) The Team Speak "quick connect" screen ask for 4 items. 1. Server Address: {85.236.100.35:10627} 2. Nickname: {Left BLANK} 3. Login Name: {My Pilot Assistant User name} 4. Password: {My Pilot Assistant PASSWORD} It seems as though the TeamSpeak servers have not been yet updated with my FSO login info or I am missing a generic password for all FSO users of the Team Speak servers. Lastly, is there a list all FSO flight servers ( with IP address) with the associated TeamSpeak server, (with IP address, session number, and password) where all FSO sessions members can participate? I have seen the short list of on-line flight servers and assume this is the total flight server list. RE: TeamSpeak: Some flight sessions seem to be using TeamSpeak 3 rather than TeamSpeak 2 servers. Each of these TS servers require a specific IP, session number designator, and password. Where is this information located? RE: Flight Sessions When trying to login I connect and get booted or do not have the password to login. |
Monty Howard 22nd May 2011 13:01:27 | I love answering my own questions and thought I should since this just kicked in for me.
As a new member I had not noticed the password page until now. I will try the information there and see if it resolves my TeamSpeak issue. |

Monty Howard 23rd May 2011 06:47:03 | Thanks Dave, it seems every time I sign up with a new group there is confusion during the rush to get things done. Little time to do them and never enough time to read everything.
So you and others know where the confusion came from I wanted to share my experience with you as a new member on the forums here. I ran into my trouble when I tried to load the TeamSpeak 2 client. TeamSpeak was not very clear pointing out the updated binary client was not an executable installer which I believed it to be. Running the binary from the site only resulted in an error over a missing DLL file. I was having trouble getting the non binary client to download for several hours and i never had the opportunity to get anything running for TeamSpeak 2 (TS2) until hours later. Mid day yesterday I received the download and tried logging in to TS2 but things still were not right. That was because I was executing TS2 instead of pilot assistant, hence no connection to TS2 for FSOPEN. Then I found a post here from someone having trouble logging into TS2 using the FSOPEN IP and session number. Someone had commented they had no problem accessing TS2 with that IP and session ID, leaving me thinking I was doing everything correct. This was after I had viewed the TS2 installation video which also mentioned logging in to TS2 using the IP and session number. Later I ran into a post on TS2 forums concerning the DLL error I initially ran into. That post cleared up the TS issue and I got it updated. Not long after that I noticed the Passwords tab on the top of the FSOPEN.CO.UK site which opened my eyes to where I had otherwise gone wrong. I needed to run Pilot Assistant to get into the FSOPEN area of TS2. If I were to make a suggestion to the group on a way to improve understanding for those not familiar with FSOPEN it would be to write up an abbreviated guide with a check list of the steps required to get things setup correctly. That write up would be the perfect content to send with the site registration e-mail to all new members. It could not only be posted as a prominent link on the FSOPEN member web site home page but also used as the link new members returned to when verifying their membership e-mail. My experience with computing has opened my eyes to how any of us can easily gloss over essential information unknowingly. This is likely when we try to convey information we are very familiar with, we sometimes forget the steps we had to take when we were new. Many things also change as site development evolves adding to this impact. I myself have been guilty of this time after time so this is by no means a complaint. I may write such a document and submit it for consideration to be sent to new users. Someone very knowledgeable should look at it closely to make sure everything needed has been commented on. Things like barometer settings in FSX, changes to plane files for IDENT, FSCLOUDS, and other items will need to be proofed for accuracy. If I have sufficient time I may even be able to put in a line re: dogs on a plane, PTT voice activation, and passengers not having seating in military fighters {*smile*}. Links to European aerodrome diagrams, and the communications manual could also be useful in this abbreviated checklist guide to initial setup. If any of this sounds helpful let me know. It will serve as inspiration to get my quill pen drawing ink once again. Best regards, Monty |
