Joe Clifford ![]() 9th Jun 2011 10:30:38 | Hello,
Im sure that many of you have seen the Air Traffic Control Guides that have been put together to help ATC with their training. With the FSOpen Flight Academy, offically begining in the very near future, I am going to be writing a VPPL (Virtual Private Pilots License) guide to accompany you with your training. I will be following real life procedures, with both Phraseology Examples and the theory involved in the PPL, with added virtual bits. The Point of this post is to ask you, as pilots, if there is anything in particular that you know you struggle with and would like me to add to the guide. Please keep in mind that the PPL is very VFR based and although IFR is touched, thats a whole nother course, however, feel free to still ask and im sure we can help :) Thankyou Joe Clifford :) |
Joe Lewis ![]() 9th Jun 2011 14:15:20 | Hi, just make sure you include the consequences of things if you don't perform the avoiding action. (IE, WHY you use alot of right rudder on takeoff (P-Factor introduces left yaw) and what happens if you don't add right rudder on takeoff), not applied to turbine engines ofcourse!
This is why I like PMDG, they tell you what happens if you don't do X, and tells you how to avoid it. If you don't know what happens, you're more likely to not do the avoiding action and something turning out really ugly! Most of the people joining the fsopen academy, I assume, want to learn how to fly properly! If you want, catch me on TS and I can share my instructors lesson plans with you if you'd like. That is IF he doesn't mind! |
Terry Gleason ![]() 4th Aug 2011 12:43:17 | Are you going to cover SIDs and STARs
|
Joe Clifford ![]() 4th Aug 2011 15:23:59 | The short answer is no. The book is for the PPL and things like instrument departures are not covered. I can however write a little something up if you wish. Otherwise ask a mentor and they can help you with them. Paul also done a video on you tube the link is on one of the recent forum posts. Worth a look
