Well, before you rush out and buy something consider this.

What I think is likely.

CPUs
Q3 2011 : AMD bulldozer chip (up to 8 cores)
Q4 2011 : Intel Sandy Bridge ex chips. (Performance versions of Sandy Bridge)
March 2012 : Intel Ivy Bridge (15-20% faster then Sandy Bridge?)

GPUs
Q4 2011 : AMD Southern Islands (Expect badged as HD7xxx series)
Late Q1 2012 : Nvidia Kepler ( Possibly 6xx series)

And then we have Microsoft flight rumoured to launch Feb 2012

March 2012 looks like a good time to buy a PC!

My thoughts exactly, I have been postponing buying a new pc until the launch of "Flight". March seems a long time away!

the cost for a pc to use flight will be around £2500 to £4000 but get one from ebay like i did the game will need high spec and i think we should keep to fsx as not a lot of users will have ££££££ to spend on new pc etc

No, Microsoft say flight will run with good frame rates on current hardware at launch. Unlike fsx which still has problems 6 years after launch.

Isn't that because FSX was developed to run on 1 core only? I think I've read something like that. I don't think that I'll have any problems playing Microsoft Flight on the highest settings. Atleast not when I've bought the i7-2600k and the GTX570 I've been looking at for a while now:)

Isak, that is correct. If I could turn back time, I would have gotten that dual core. But no, I got this silly quad core, if I had that E8400, heck, I'd have been able to actually RUN AUTOGEN.

Isak, thats right but sp1 and 2 made it sort of multi threaded.

I'd only go for an i5-2500k though. Spend the money saved on making sure your mother supports sli and your psu would drive it. Then when flight comes out you can add another 570 and later upgrade to ivy bridge which should work with the motherboard.

Nigel, when I say "my thoughts exactly" this really means well yes I defer to the knowledge of Mr Royce and Mr Rolls, not that I understand quantum physics.
However this would be my build and what I think is likely:

A slim elegent saphrrone back body with a hint of blood ruby, highlighted in a cyrstal blue with matching keyboard and accessories.
A full bodied mouse with a sexy litte tail in matching colours empasised with flashing lights and self gliding capacities. A stand alone sexy alluring piece with mesmorising capabilites, a beauty to behold, that would grace the table of any redblooded man.

There!

Much more interesting in all that crap inside!
