Paul Humphries ![]() 13th Jan 2012 11:16:36 | Sorry for being thick.
Once you have done cyxy-paei Do you not do a return, or just repeat that leg? |
John Godfrey ![]() 13th Jan 2012 14:56:46 | Did them all last night and the last one PASC-PAKP is hard if the weather is bad, and it is Alaska. NDB Approach only with mountains either side...forget Innsbruck. |
Craig Noble ![]() 14th Jan 2012 11:08:36 | Dead Horse to Anaktuvuk! I love it. Just what I've been waiting for. The 1900C can carry 6400lbs (internet) so we are looking at 195 flights. With 105 flight days in 15 weeks.
Think we would need at least 1 or 2 pilots flying each variant of plane once a day 7 days a week. Great challenge. Me personally I will be doing the small run mostly. Also note that we have both 1900 C and D FSOpen skins for the freeware models. Check the forum. Happy flying, Craig |
Craig Noble ![]() 14th Jan 2012 16:41:32 | Well im soring across northern Alaska as I type this enroute to Anaktuvuk from Deadhorse.
My first flight this morning went like this: Aircraft loaded with cargo and fuel. Setup for flight and got underway. During t/o roll wind was 250@34kts gusting. Got airbourne and encountered severe turbulence! This was noted as excessive G-force and awarded a negative score (thanks vafs). So I climbed out to around 12000ft and the wind improved. Cloud cover however was dense from 3000ft to around 8000ft. No visual to the ground. Followed my planned GPS/NAV route to Anaktuvuk Pass. Thought to myself great - no wind and broken cloud as i entered the pass! I looked at the charts and decided to run with a standard 02 rwy approach. I looked right... mountains... I looked left... a decent pass with space to manouvere but not without mistake as there are mountains that side also. All going well - so i make the steep left hand pattern in to the airfield. Im then greeted on short finals by a sunken airstrip (negatively elevated field) within a crater. luckily the runway is a ok length. A firm touch down and the application of reverse thrust / brakes saw me and my cargo come to a stop. A 180 turn at the 20 end and doubled back to unload at the ramp. It was fantastic! And I mean fantastic! Thanks for this adventure, Craig (FSO 26C) |
Joe Lewis ![]() 15th Jan 2012 00:14:19 | What a coincidence! I was considering flying in the Deadhorse area after watching Ice Road Truckers, where their destination was Prudhoe Bay (Deadhorse Airport). I'll have to give this a try. PMDG B1900C :) |
