i should be out late on the 17th. this means we will get it thursday morning as the release is us time.i have had a look at the operation side of vafs & there are a lot of changes in how we run the airline i.e. ticket pricing, plane servicing, pilot ratings, hubs, the amount of passengers & cargo we get is worked out different ect.ect.this will mean i will have to be stricter on the planes & routes i can put on the va.i am going to try &do this without a complete rebuild of the airline but it might come to that. i think it will take about 1 month to get it all done & you might find routes & planes are all over the place during that time, but there will always be some where to fly. goffa

Hi Goffa,

When will be the best time to upgrade to VAFs5? Should we do it as soon as it's out or is it worth waiting a while until the work you need to do is complete?

Thanks and regards, M

Hello,

As Far as i am know Mick, VAFS 5 will render VAFS 4 useless. It will have no databases to relate to. Everything is being transferred over on the 17th.

I don't think you'll even be able to log into VAFS 4. Not Sure for a fact but thats what i have read to believe. I imagine they will make you automatically download the newer version when you open it, just like Pilot Assistant.

Happy Flightings :)

Hi,

I have installed VAFS5 this morning and just thought I would add some instructions to help others.

Download VAFS5 from your pilot login on the VAFS web site, the link on the home page did not work.
Ensure you download the install file to your hard drive.

If you are running on Windows 7 or Vista right click on the setup file (VAFS5Setup.exe) and select run as administrator.

They state on the VAFS website that if you are using Windows 7 or Vista that you should not run VAFS5 directly from the shortcut created on your desktop but should instead browse to the installation folder and run VAFS5.exe as an administrator each time you use it.

You can get round this by changing a setting on the desktop shortcut by:

1. Right click on the VAFS5 shortcut and select properties.
2. Click on the compatability tab and click on Run this programm as an administrator.

I haven't yet tried a flight with it but it does have all of my details and pilot logs. Double clicking on a log entry does give you an HTTP 404 error (missing page).

On the Pilot Login with the VAFS web site you can purchase various virtual items with your hard earned virtual money.

Hope the above helps.

Regards,

Steve.
