Bishal Gurung ![]() 25th Jan 2012 15:26:41 | Hi all,
Finally I have sorted out my PC and now I am ready to fly again. I finished assembling my pc last week and up to now it has been running very very smoothly. There are still few things which I want to buy like a decent Flight Yoke and few must have add-ons for FSX. Let's start with flight yoke. Right now I have a basic Saitek Joystick but I am looking towards buying "Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System" but is it good? Are there better ones in similar prices? And with FSX add-ons, I already have PMDG 737 NGX and REX 2.0. Right now I am looking towards buying GEX Europe, FS Global 2010 and UTX Europe. I have also seen VFR Real Scenery Collection but have no idea how good they are. I also have a feeling UTX and VFR might conflict if I have them together. Anyway is there any other must have add-ons for FSX? Thanks for all the help guys. See you soon in air. |
Mick McG ![]() 25th Jan 2012 20:10:24 | H'o Bishal,
I'm afraid I can't help with your choice of yoke as I'm too embarrassed to admit what relic of hardware history I use to control the aircraft I fly. I can't advise you on the delights of PMDG craft nor fancy weather/scenery enhancing software. What I can tell you is that if you fly predominantly VFR in the UK, then the VFR Real Scenery collection is impressive. I've got the set for England (still saving up for the Scottish releases) and when combined with UK2000s VFR Airfields I think the effect is brilliant. I also have a good selection of UK2k's Xtreme Airports and they too add hugely to the "real feel". As a "prop" flyer those would be my two recommendations at any rate. For the big jet stuff, others will be far better qualified to give you an opinion than me. Clear skies, M |
Isak Kindgren ![]() 26th Jan 2012 05:55:08 | I use the Saitek Pro Flight System which includes: the yoke, a quadrant with three levers and rudder pedals. I believe it's very good and I have a lot of friends of mine who shares my thought. As for the aircrafts I also have the NGX but I'm looking forward to buy the 777 from Captainsim and the 787 from qualitywings when they're released. If you like airbus then Airbus X from aerosoft is the right choice if you want the visuals and a pretty well developed system and cockpit but Wilco if you care more about the Cockpit functions and realistic flight controls instead of visuals. Haven't tried Wilco but this is what I've been told.
As for maybe an smaller aircraft then I bought last week Aerosoft Diamond X which is a Diamond DA20 and it is extremely realistic with great visuals as well. Really hard answering your question as I don't know if you want a long haul big airliner aircraft or a light weight aircraft that handles one circuit around the airport? :) Hope this helped somewhat anyway Welcome back by the way:) Isak |
Bishal Gurung ![]() 26th Jan 2012 09:48:02 | I have found good reviews online about Saitek Flight System and I think I will be buying it. Mick I am really tempted to buy the VFR Collection. I have seen the whole collection on ebay for a good price so time for me to do some bidding. Isak I believe you have kind of answered my question about which airplanes add-on to choose from. If anyone would like to add more please do so. Thanks again guys. |
Darren Carey ![]() 26th Jan 2012 18:40:16 | hi try getting the cyborg x joystick as it is the top out i use it and its better then the Flight Yoke |
Bishal Gurung ![]() 26th Jan 2012 23:24:14 | I already have Cyborg x joystick and it's lovely.
Today I have just purchased the Saitek Flight Yoke System so I will be trying out my few things. |
Isak Kindgren ![]() 27th Jan 2012 17:55:23 | No, is the Cyborg X joystick the one that looks like a scorpion or something? My friend has it, it's not top of the line, but it'll do if you fly joystick controlled aircraft but for a much more realistic feeling then Saitek Pro Flight system is the one for you :) This is just my opinion, I've been flying with a joystick for 4-5 years before I bought the Saitek Pro Flight System for a year ago or so and I like it a lot, just a tip Bishal, be very careful when plugging in the Quadrant as it may break the small spikes on the Quadrants wire :)

Bishal Gurung ![]() 28th Jan 2012 00:05:17 | Yes it is the joystick that looks like cyborg. It is a very affordable and good joysitck for combat flight sims but like you I wanted the more realistic feeling so I bought Saitek Pro Flight system. I hae been playing with it since yesterday and I have to tell you it is damn awesome. Money well spent. :) |
Isak Kindgren ![]() 28th Jan 2012 08:24:22 | I'm glad to hear, see you in the virtual skies then :) |
Bishal Gurung ![]() 30th Jan 2012 10:45:52 | After I bought few add-ons like REX, GEX, UTX and few payware planes my FSX feels wonderful. Now I am only missing airport scenery as far I know. Can anyone please recommend me some good airport scenery add-on. I am looking for airport scenery pack for Birmingham and few other UK international airports. Thanks again. |
Mick McG ![]() 30th Jan 2012 13:44:43 | Hi again Bishal,
Regarding airport scenery; you could choose anything in the UK2000 Xtreme Airport series and you won't be disappointed. They're superb. If you prefer VFR, the airports in that series are also excellent and well worth the asking price imho. Take a look for yourself http://www.uk2000scenery.com/ |
Sebastian Hansen ![]() 30th Jan 2012 15:29:49 | If you want a realistic weather engine then look at AS2012.

Bishal Gurung ![]() 30th Jan 2012 16:46:06 | Mick UK2000 Xtreme Airtport looks really good so might give that a try.
Sebastian wow AS2012 looks really really great. I only recently bought REX and if I had known about this product earlier than I would have gone for it. I will probably have to wait for sometime before I buy this. It is twice expensive than REX and I will have to make my money's worth in REX. :) Thanks for the help though. |
