Gent's, it is with regret that I announce the passing of a muched loved friend; my old mate, Millibar.

Millibar actually left us in November but the emotion was too much for me at the time and I could not face telling you all. However, the passing of time heals many things and I thought the time was right to move on from the past and introduce our new measure of pressure, Hectopascal.

Hectopascal realises that millibar was with us for a long time but insists that he is now the main 'ombre in town and has already struck the fear of God into real world ATCO's who won't mention Mb's name anymore for fear of being grassed up to the Phraseology Police.

Hectopascal likes to be known by his nickname of "Hectopascal" (he has no sense of humour). His one concession is that he will allow us to write it down shorthand but insists that the capital and lower case letters are correct - hPa is how he likes it, so that's how he has it.

You're going to love him! Get practicing those ATIS broadcasts; the phraseology feds are listening out on a frequency near you.

Mb is dead, long live hPA.

Best ones, M ;)

Dam! I Hoped know one was gonna say it! Wasn't Looking Forward To this switch!

We use HectoPascals In Physics Experiments At SixthForm. If I have been listening to my Teacher 1hPA is equivalent to 1mbar so no need to get confused over conversions. Just a phraeology issue.

Not To Worry, Im sure they will throw something else at us soon :P

Joe
