Nathan Roberts 6th Apr 2012 09:44:55 | How long or should I say, how quickly do they have to make such a decent if that happens?
|
Geoff Server ![]() 6th Apr 2012 10:04:46 | ASAP
Push nose forward apply airbreaks and full throttle until you reach 10,000 feet. Cabin oxygen for passengers in the drop down masks lasts for about 10 min. So down in 10 min is the time you have.. Loads of time. |

Joe Clifford ![]() 6th Apr 2012 17:00:08 | Maybe we could turn this into an event. Emergency recovery or something? I was watching AirCrash Investigation earlier. An aircraft was shot by a missile short after takeoff loosing all it's hydrolic fluid, their only control was their engines.
Be good to see how many people and keep there cool and save the plane. What you think? Shall I get planning? Joe |
Adam Prior 7th Apr 2012 17:07:14 | Joe i saw that too , I think that would be a great event but it would be a little hard to foucus on flying and moving each throttle by using the mouse? |
Graeme Brown ![]() 7th Apr 2012 17:48:46 | Having seen both cases of crews trying to land aircraft with only differential engine thrust ie Sioux City (aircraft crashed) and the one in Iraq which the pilots did an amazing job of landing, I thought I would try it in FSX. I have a Saitek throttle so can control both engines independently.
I tried it in the PMDG NGX and its tough! An emergency recovery event might be interesting. We could have someone who spontanously instructs pilots to simulate a failure and then handle it while in contact with ATC. for example Single (or double) engine failure Rapid depressurisation etc |
Nathan Roberts 7th Apr 2012 18:56:36 | oh cheers guys that answers my questions :) |
Nathan Roberts 12th Apr 2012 19:10:34 | Some more info, checklist for rapid depressurisation goes with the above emergency decent procedure as above - info from a first officer on 737:-
rapid depressurisation checklist:- Oxgen masks ................on establish crew communications pressurisation mode selector...............manual outflow valve.....................................close check to see if pressure is restored, if not emergency oxygen...............................on seat belt signs......................................on |
Graeme Brown ![]() 12th Apr 2012 22:26:43 | Being a Ryanair flight I wonder if the passengers have to insert a pound coin into a slot in order to get their oxygen mask to drop |
