Pirated planes on the server

When a new plane is released they often contain a lot of bugs which are fixed over the next few weeks/months by service patches. One common issue that developers fail to address is testing in multi-player mode. As a result a plane can generate as 10 times or more network traffic. This is sent to the server which then sends it out to every other aircraft. Some developers may then fix these problems in a later patch. The PMDG737 is a good example of a plane that at launch often crashed our server.

The problem with pirated planes, aside from the obvious illegal and moral points, is that they are often created when a plane is first released and contain all the initial bugs. It is therefore more likely that a pirated plane will kill the server.

There are also planes out there that can flood our server and the developer remains unaware or is unwilling to issue a fix.

I have been working with several other groups on these issues and for the last few days we've been running software on the server that will automatically kick people from the session if they send an unreasonable amount of traffic.

If you think you have been kicked for this simply ask someone to read the message in the chat window for confirmation.

Now we have an automatic way of getting rid of pirated aircraft there is no need to insist on users providing proof of purchase.
