John Elliott 19th Feb 2010 13:47:35 | I had not seen any advertising for this but I've just learnt the new FS2000 Extreme scenery for Manchester is now available for FSX and FS2004. Gary Summons has done another fantastic job here.
Apologies if everyone is already aware, but I thought I'd mention it. http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/ Cheers John |
John Elliott 19th Feb 2010 14:16:42 | Further to my last message ... you REALLY have to get this !! In fact, if everyone were able to, then I believe it would really enhance the whole FSopen experience.
Accurate scenery ...moving jetways ... the whole deal. (there is a free option with limited functionality) It's what us Northerners have been waiting for :-) John |
Sam Watson 20th Feb 2010 12:15:24 | It sounds good john but the only problem is that everyone must have it or no-one must have it otherwise it looks stupid to some people when you are not taxing on the taxiways and when you are taxing through terminals! |
Richard Stuchfield 20th Feb 2010 13:16:26 | i'd definitely recommend it. I have the extreme scenery for EGBB and there is NO performance hit that I have found. So as you can use the trial version for as long as you want (with the blue cube) I'd suggest everyone gets it.
The blue cube really isn't that much of an issue (unless you're taking screenshots). I have the free EGKK version and you tend to rotate after you've passed through it and land before you get to it - no issues. |
John Elliott 20th Feb 2010 14:14:10 | It is a tricky call... I remember being part of Gatwick Virtual and part of that criteria (I seem to recall) was everyone having the Extreme scenery (pay or free).
If members had this for Manchester, it would show commitment to FSopen I guess and making it a more real experience. There are, of course, other airports where default scenery could be used. There is the other issue that the correct real-world runway designations are actually 23 L and R and 05 L and R which this scenery supports. Spammers could more readily be identified I guess as we would know who is using 'default' Manchester scenery. |
Fred Parkinson 20th Feb 2010 16:33:55 | There are free versions of the Xtreme scenery which don't have the cube but are limited in what is included. I use the free Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Stanstead, Gatwick and Glasgow. The only problem I have found is that the controller sees me as on the grass and not the taxiway and aircraft that are using default scenery can seem to be parked in unusual spots. In FSCommander you appear to be on the side of the taxiway and not in the center.

James Monckton ![]() 21st Feb 2010 00:10:30 | I can see the problem this will create for the ATCO's
I have the scenery myself and would really recommend it free or not, since the actual limited version is better than the FSX default i suggest everyone gets it, or it wont work for the better! James |
Dale Boardman ![]() 21st Feb 2010 01:23:06 | Peeps,

Dave Wave ![]() 21st Feb 2010 15:14:01 | My thoughts.
Standard EGCC 25 FPS UK2000 free 22 FPS Uk2000 full 11 to 15 FPS The full version becomes almost unplayable, will be using the free version for a bit and see how it goes. |
Ronnie Glackin ![]() 21st Feb 2010 19:13:42 | seriously dave thats weird its not changing mine atall and its beautifull |
Harry Tarling ![]() 23rd Feb 2010 17:21:19 | No I Agree With Dave Plus It's A Pain In The Ass To Do ATC With you lot with the scenery taxiing through the terminals |
