Fatih Aydogduoglu ![]() 27th Feb 2010 13:53:27 | Dear admins and the rest of the crew. We need more events in different places. And the real problem is I have some complains about the ATCs. They start controlling and they stop controlling after 15 min. or so. That happened a couple of times before and it is really annoying. I think we must determine some spesific rules for the ATCs. Like once they start controlling they must do it at least for two hours. If they have any other things to do they should not join the game in the first place. Thanks in advance for considering that idea. |
John Elliott 27th Feb 2010 14:11:41 | I agree with Fatih to a point, yes it would be great to have some specific events.. anything from challenging routes, fun stuff (carrier landings, short runways, time challenges etc).. I think we could all put specific suggestions forward.
As to the ATC issue, I've not experienced the problem to date, but it would be helpful to have any ATC on for a minimum period of time. possibly if a preplanned timetable (such as displayed on FSroute main programme) could be displayed on the website. It is difficult to preplan when we all have our own lives outside of simming and things can change. I must say, however, how much I appreciate and value the ATC that we do have on FSopen. From my own limited past experiences on other sites, it is hard to find dedicated folk who genuinely care about 'pushing the tin' around the skies and help us walk away from our landings. It must be frustrating at times when dealing with newbies and when all of us make errors in our flying but I have found our guys really committed, helpful and professional with a good nature. I just want to take this opportunity to say a big thanks !! |
Fatih Aydogduoglu ![]() 27th Feb 2010 14:17:55 | I 100% agree with you John. I know and I appreciate how everybody is working very hard to keep this beautiful community together and I am really happy being here. Also a big thanks from my part to everyone. That preplanned timetable idea is not bad at all. We can consider about that. |
James Monckton ![]() 27th Feb 2010 15:38:09 | Well said guys, whenever Im doing ATC as long as there is traffic, I do not move, however you get times like last night when you sign on for an hour or so and you get no traffic.
As to events and @John Check the events forum, i posted a carrier event a few weeks back, but it doesn't seem to have gained much interest. |
Ronnie Glackin ![]() 27th Feb 2010 16:10:18 | i do a bit of atc my self and i do agree with everybody and if i do leave my atc position i try to get someone else to takeover.
but like james said if i dont see any traffic i will close and become traffiic thats just the way it goes about the minum time thing i think this will decourage atc (If thats a word haha) to carry on. its hard to get hold of people intersted in atc so that might not be a good idea. my suggestion is that if there is someone doing atc use him more do circuits take off from him etc insted of spawning 1000 miles away where he has to wait for 2 hours bored out of his mind aspecialy if there is no other traffic. But this is just my view |
James Monckton ![]() 27th Feb 2010 16:20:57 | Yes thats another good point, we always try to find a replacement before we leave.
At the end of the day, we come on to do ATC so if there is traffic about, then we have no incentive to go anywhere! |
