| Another version of flight strip is up | |
Dave Wave ![]() 14th Mar 2010 01:17:19 | New version on the server for you. This is now close to a final version.
If you do ATC please let me know what you think about the map in this version. If you are running fsx on the same machine as flight strips then you wil get planes highlighted on the map. Note there is a limit in fsx that means I can only pick up traffic within 100 miles of where you are in fsx, so if you're at Heathrow in fsx don't expect to see any planes if you open a tower at Manchester in flight strips. If you get an error with this version please send me the error message and what you were doing at the time. Changes since yesterday Main Graphics now looking pretty. Zooming in/out improved. Runways replaced with thoose from fsx. (My other data source was proving too hard to match up with fsx taxiways) Taxi centre lines added to all taxiways including thoose on aprons Number of taxi names reduced depending on zoom level reducing cluutter Direction arrows added to gates/parking Performance tweeks reduces cpu load to about 2% (On my old PC so on a quad will be negligable) Jobs still to do. Make aircraft labels more like FSX Sort out runway labels. Stop the flicker on screen refresh. (Draw to bit map then blat to screen) Hoping to do all of above tomorrow then I think we'll have a very, very good system for anybody covering ground. (Which is where fsx lags) There will of course be other things around the corner...... |
Mick McG ![]() 14th Mar 2010 13:27:04 | Dave, this is really impressive! I've only had a very quick look this morning but already I can see how this would be a great help to anyone doing Ground/Tower at an airport where the parking stands and taxi patterns are unfamiliar. I also love the feature where the SID/STARs are highlighted but this is where I'd offer my only suggestion. Would it be possible to change the colour of the highlighted route rather than the thickness of the line in order to make it stand out a little better. Maybe yellow or green? I imagine it's a pain in the 'arris to do (otherwise you'd have done it already) and I offer it only as a suggestion to disregard at your pleasure. Even as it stands, it's a great utility and I'm looking forward to see what else you come up with.
Best regards, M |
Dave Wave ![]() 14th Mar 2010 14:52:46 | Hi Mick,
New version on the site for you. I've put your changes in, selected SID now light blue, slected Star in Pink. I've also sorted out the graphic flickering on redraw. I'm very pleased with the results since I'm new to graphics. Changing aircraft labels and runway designators this afternoon. |
