Adam Burke 15th Mar 2010 17:48:44 | Hi everyone
I have recently got a vga cable. I use a wide screen laptop that is slightly smaller than my tv screen. I can make my laptop screen appear on the tv but is it possible to make fsx to strech accross both screens. I have tryed making the tv an extension of my laptop but fsx did not go accross both one remined black. Regards, Adam |

You can only stretch across 2 monitors with Win XP. Both ATI and NVidia have said that due to the way Vista and Win 7 are written they are unable to provide drivers that can span across 2 monitors. You can try software like 'Wideview' which allows you to display different views on multiple PC's that are all linked together. That way, you can use each of the video out ports on the multiple PC's Richard |

Richard Stuchfield 15th Mar 2010 22:29:33 | yeah - you can use 2 monitors from the one card but you won't get FSX to span across them both (without stretching everthing horizontally). I use vista with 2 monitors and it allows me to run FSX on one and have flightstrip running on the other but if you put FSX in fullscreen one of the monitors is black. If you use XP, there is an option in the display settings "span horizontally" so if you have 2 monitors with resolutions of 1680x1050 you get an effective resolution of 3360x1050 in fullscreen |

John Elliott 16th Mar 2010 20:42:11 | I have been toying with the idea of getting a second monitor. 2 questions ... (am a non-techie !! )
1. does it impact on frame rates? 2. what do big-jet' users find most useful to put on the second monitor ? 2b how easy is it to set up ? John |

As I've said above, don't bother unless you're running XP - and you'll need a second video out on your card or a 'triple head to go' unit. It's bound to have some sort of impact on frame rates as the video card is going to be drawing twice as much as normal - I'm sure it wouldn't decrease rates by 50% but I don't really know - I don't have that sort of a set up. Any XP users with 'horizontal spanning' turned on out there? Richard |
