Mick McG ![]() 23rd Apr 2010 21:27:45 | H'o guys,
Just found this little game: http://www.oldsarum.co.uk/2009/atc-game.html (Apologies, but I don't know how to make it an active hyperlink within the forum) If you fancy yourself as a busy approach radar controller, you'll enjoy this. Takes a second or two to go through the ads etc but bear with it. BTW don't ask me what my score was - you'd never let me control on FSOpen again! Clear skies, M |
Kieran Harding ![]() 26th Apr 2010 23:38:50 | Hi,
I gave it a go - and I quite liked it. Got 10th on the leaderboard for today (189500) which isn't bad for first go :) (Lost separation on the first level :p but went well after that). I might have another go and try to beat my score tomorrow. Has anyone else given this a go? Kieran |
Mick McG ![]() 27th Apr 2010 01:00:57 | 4th attempt, got past RW27 and 07 to RW11 but lost it there due to loss of separation twice with stuff coming in from the edge - highly frustrating but strangely addictive!! I got a bronze medal but came nowhere on the leaderboard.
What was your method? Reduce speed and sequence in height order or try to manage the pattern as the targets appear? Great score btw! |
Adrian OLeary ![]() 27th Apr 2010 14:40:35 | Try this one as well

I managed 161500 today which put me second on the leaderboard. I reduce the speed of all targets to 200 as they appear, then use initial heights depending on which direction they are coming from, turn them into some sort of loose pattern, using speed controls to keep a nice lateral seperation ,then feed them in. Cheers Mick for wasting a couple of hours of my time today mate :) |
Kieran Harding ![]() 1st May 2010 12:36:23 | Hi,
Sorry - forgot about this post. Only had 2 more goes, but haven't beaten that score. I tend to loose separation with one landing and one right behind it on approach. For my method, I'm not too sure - just kinda did it on autopilot. Thinking about it, I dropped the aircraft from 60 to 50 virtually straight away to stop ones coming in behind it and rather than reducing speed, i tried to keep everyone as fast as possible (because then you can get them out the way for the next ones). I only reduced when either: there were loads of aircraft, I knew they would end up establishing really far out, or I had a jam. Also, I tried to get them in as close to the 10 mile mark as possible - the further out, the more turns and vectors you need, and the longer it takes to get rid of planes. Just had a go at Adrian's game - pretty difficult - got 107004 on third attempt (first I didn't get the concept and failed at the start of level 2 :p). Have you had another go Mick? Anyone else tried Adrian's game? Kieran |
Kieran Harding ![]() 1st May 2010 13:20:46 | Hi again,
Just tried Adrian's game again, managed to complete it - score: 283311. The last level was definately my favourite!!! Kieran |
