John Elliott 17th Jul 2010 16:13:20 | Hi all. This is a site I use quite often if I want to try something challenging.
http://www.fourflights.com/ Every hour they select four airports with pretty nasty 'live' conditions for various levels of flight rules: Visual Flight Rules (VFR), Marginal Visual Flight Rules (MVFR), Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Low Instrument Flight Rules (LIFR). As they say .. "Four Flights Every Hour = 35,040 Flights per Year We find 'em - you fly 'em! The lowest ceilings, the rainiest instrument meteorological conditions, the best opportunities for scud running and gusty crosswinds. Educational and entertaining resource for weather spotters, virtual airlines, and flight simulators". Worth a look. Cheers John |

So, for example, if you choose the IFR tab at the top, it will highlight their selected airport and suggested destinations (ICAO codes and flight rule conditions). Enjoy John |

John Elliott 17th Jul 2010 19:02:08 | Not been on this for about 18 months .. and I'm not sure if it's updating. Will check. That's really annoying ... used to be a brilliant site, sorry folks. grrr ! |
John Elliott 19th Jul 2010 18:43:08 | Ah .. it IS updating but not very often .. guess they're not getting that much 'weather' this time of year.
Anyhow .. this is a good site for live 'bad' weather .. and using this I've just done an interesting crosswind landing, in a thunderstorm in Houston.. http://www.liveatc.net/badwxfeeds.php John |
